Portable Appliance Testing

Any business large or small dealing with the public is required to have their electrical equipment tested for safety. We offer a comprehensive PAT testing service, available at evenings and weekends, covering all electrical items on any size of business premises, from large shopping centre complexes and hospitals to smaller domestic residences.

Any domestic or non domestic premises depending on the sort of domestic or business use. So this will include schools, libraries, clinics, restaurants, bars, hospitals, public office organisations and individual traders like landlords, mobile headdresses and photographers.

PAT is an abbreviation for Portable Appliance Testing . This is any electrical item that is not fixed (EG oven or hob) and able to be moved from place to place. Examples of these items include kettles, vacuum cleaners, computers, refrigerators and fans.

All our PAT testing is done to the highest standard. We are members of NAPIT  -the National Association of Professional Inspectors and Testers. This means we always ensure and maintain the highest possible standards.

The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 all relate to the requirement for PAT testing.

The law states that “As may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as reasonably practicable, such danger.

“‘System’ means an electrical system in which all the electrical equipment is, or may be, electrically connected to a common source of electrical energy and includes such source and such equipment” “‘Electrical Equipment’ includes anything used, intended to be used or installed for use, to generate, provide, transmit, transform, rectify, convert, conduct, distribute, control, store, measure or use electrical energy.”
